A Couple Won $100k Playing Powerball Lottery in Michigan State Lottery
Charles Kempher, a resident of Lenawee County, Michigan, woke up in the middle of the night on March 20 and decided to check the Powerball numbers on a whim. Little did he know, this simple act would reveal a winning ticket worth $100k.
Charles, a long-time Powerball player according to the Michigan Lottery, matched four white balls and the coveted Powerball (13-22-27-54-66, Powerball: 9) on the March 20th drawing. Originally a $50,000 prize, the Power Play multiplier doubled his winnings to a staggering $100,000. This winning ticket was sold at the Meijer store in Adrian.

Kempher said “I woke up at 11:30 p.m. and couldn’t sleep, so I checked the winning numbers,” he shared in a news release. “I was in disbelief when I realized I’d won $100,000! I sat up for hours waiting for my wife to wake up so that I could tell her the good news!”
Donna, Charles’ wife, initially thought it was a smaller win but Charles informed him of the real winning amount. Donna said “Once I learned it was $100,000, I said: ‘I think that’s more than a little bit of money!’ It was so exciting.”
