VA Lottery Player Mistakinly Pressed Powerball Button Instead of Mega Millions and Won a $1 Million Prize
You must have heard “Sometimes the best things in life happen by mistake” Some like this happened with a Virginia resident Miriam Long. Lucky lady “Long” intended to purchase a Mega Millions ticket, hoping to win a share of the massive jackpot. However, her finger slipped on Powerball instead of Mega Millions at the lottery machine, resulting in a life-changing win on a different game altogether.
Long told VA Lottery officials, “I saw the Mega Millions jackpot was going at a crazy height, so I wanted to get it,” So she visited the self-service kiosk in a Blacksburg CVS, to buy a Mega Millions ticket. Perhaps fate want something best for him, and in a twist of fate, she pushed the wrong button instead of Mega Millions. Long unknowingly purchased a Powerball ticket with the “Easy Pick” option, allowing the computer to select her numbers randomly.

Long did not know her “mistake” would make him a millionaire. When the March 18 Powerball drawing results were announced, Long saw that her ticket’s randomly chosen numbers matched all five white balls and secured a $1 million prize. While claiming the prize she was at the Virginia Lottery headquarters, she said “It’s the best mistake of my life!” but she was still in disbelief.
